Our Seattle dental office provides start to finish dental implant treatment in one convenient location. Dr. Timmerman has extensive training and experience with dental implant therapy, allowing him to provide comprehensive services to his patients. Unlike most dentists who send their patients away for the actual surgical implant process, Dr. Timmerman performs the entire treatment right here in our office. His advanced training techniques and our access to state-of-the-art equipment allow us to both place the implants as well as restore them.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are replacement teeth placed on artificial dental roots. Each root is comprised of titanium, which encourages new bone formation and added stability. Titanium is used in surgical procedures like joint replacement, because of its extreme bio-compatibility with the human body. Dr. Timmerman places the implant root into the area of the highest bone quality, which produces extremely predictable results for his patients.
The design of implants allows dentists like Dr. Timmerman to replace entire teeth, or even all of the teeth in the mouth, with something that is the next best thing to a natural tooth. In fact, implant roots are even stronger than real teeth!
Benefits of Choosing Implants Over other Tooth Replacements
Choosing to have dental implants for your tooth replacement needs is the most natural type of treatment you can receive from a dentist.
By design, implants are able to:
- Preserve bone integrity
- Promote a fuller facial profile
- Offer permanent replacement of missing teeth
- Prevent alteration of adjacent, healthy teeth
- Replace as many teeth as needed
Types of Restorations
Implants can be used to replace one, or all of a patient’s teeth. From single dental crowns to dental bridges, or even a full mouth denture, implants provide the security and stability of brand new teeth. They’re the most natural treatment option you’ll ever find! Single implants can support crowns, or 2 implants can support either end of a permanent fixed bridge. If implant retained dentures are your goal, only 2-4 implant roots can provide the security and stability that you expect from an entire mouth of teeth – implants are that strong!
The Treatment Process
Most dental offices require patients to see 3rd party providers during their implant therapy. Dr. Lance Timmerman is a trained implant dentist, so all of your treatment is completed here in our Seattle office. The treatment is typically broken up into various stages, involving placement of the implant, recovery, and delivery of the fixed prosthesis.
Dental Implant Cost
Dental implants costs can vary. Probably the biggest concern our patients have about dental implants is the cost. Investing in a permanent tooth replacement option can be more than other types of restorative treatment, but in many cases they come out to the same amount in the life of the patient. For instance, dental implants typically do not have to be changed out every 10-15 years as a bridge might. By the time patients have the treatment replaced once or twice, they could have paid for a dental implant.
The price of the procedure will depend on the type of restoration that is being used, as well as any other necessary treatments. For instance, a patient may need a single implant with a permanent crown, or they may request a full mouth denture that is anchored onto implants, but that also requires a sinus lift. Dr. Timmerman provides individualized treatment plans that prioritize the patient’s goals. All of these fees will be reviewed with you so that there is never a surprise as to what something costs.
If you’re ready to move forward with a dental implant, we’ll discuss financing options as well as insurance coverage that the patient may have which can be utilized.
Dental Implants Eligibility
Dental implants are sometimes covered under dental insurance policies, depending on the type of coverage that has been purchased. Our practice is happy to acquire a breakdown of benefits to determine whether or not your insurance provider covers dental implant procedures. Please be aware of dentists or companies that offer “discount dental implants.” These providers may only have limited experience with less superior types of implants than what are demanded of our patients. Dr. Timmerman is a trained implant specialist who is able to offer competitive pricing with a specialist’s touch.
Successful Long-Term Tooth Replacement
Because of his extensive experience in managing dental implant patients, Dr. Timmerman is able to provide comprehensive implant therapies with an extremely high success rate. Implants may do better in some areas of the mouth than others, with success rates of 95%. Other factors to take into consideration are the bone levels or other necessary support structures such as the sinuses and how they relate to your implant sights.
Find out if You’re a Candidate for Treatment
We only place implants in patients who we have confidence make ideal candidates for the procedure, because we want your care to be successful. To do this, Dr. Timmerman will need to thoroughly examine your mouth, take any necessary x-rays, and talk about your expectations with you. If your mouth is healthy enough to support dental implants, then we will discuss what options are available.
Tobacco Use and Implant Success
You want your implant treatment to be successful, as do we. Because of this we want to let our patients know that if they smoke, they are at an increased risk of having dental implant failure after their surgery. If possible, we suggest you discontinue using all tobacco products prior to your treatment. Unfortunately tobacco products like cigarettes prevent the mouth from being able to heal optimally, which then make it more difficult for your implant to take.
